Issue When entering text in
the Fireworks design environment, text blocks appear as solid colored
rectangles instead of the expected font chosen. You may notice this in
sections of other applications as well.
Note: Some users have
reported that this issue occurred after successfully creating text for an
indeterminate amount of time, making the issue seem more mysterious to
troubleshoot.
Reason This issue has been
reported as a conflict between the video driver and the operating system.
While there may be other drivers which cause this problem, one identified
driver is the current driver by NVIDIA for the GeForce2 MX
card.
Solution Three solutions have
been identified for this problem:
Visit the
manufacturer's web site to download and install an older video
driver according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you need
help doing this, please contact your video card manufacturer.
Restart your computer after installing the driver before testing to
see whether the problems have stopped.
Right-click on
your computer's desktop and choose Properties. This opens your
Display Properties dialog box. Click on the Settings tab and check
your monitor's color depth. If it is at 16-bit, change it to 24-bit
or 32-bit color depth and then test Fireworks.
Still in the Display Properties dialog box, check the
Hardware Acceleration setting in the Performance/Troubleshoot tab of
the Advanced Settings window. If not at the lowest setting, reduce
the Hardware Acceleration setting. See Fireworks
document fails to display in the 2-up and 4-up preview windows
(TechNote 14283) for more information.
